Black Star Foundation worked together with Club Bazart (The Hague) on a regular base: for 3 years, every other month there was another 'Bazart Bashment' in Club Bazart!
Bazart Bashment is a unity of different styles of music based on reggae and dancehall. Unlike the 'battles' or 'clashes' (familiar in the hiphop- and dancehall scene) Bazart Bashment is a party where different styles of music meet.
Club Bazart started with the first Bazart Bashment in 2003, mainly for The Hagues jungle and reggae scene. To bring the Bashments to a higher and more professional level, Club Bazart asked Black Star Foundation for a cooperation to create a bigger variety in music styles based on reggae and dancehall rythms and to have more continuity in the events.
The cooperation between Club Bazart and Black Star Foundation started in the summer of 2005 with the promotion of 3 new Bazart Bashments: Reggaeton vs. African Reggae (September 17, 2005), Hiphop Special (November 19, 2005) and Roots & Dub (January 21, 2006). These events were also made possible by Gemeente Den Haag, POP and Popunie.
House crew of Bazart Bashment are selectors Den-Den and Kaya and off course there is no Bashment without the visual effects of VJ Prins W. Depending on the theme, there were different guest selectors, DJ's and artists or bands.
The last Bazart Bashment was the Bob Marley Special in the end of May 2006. However this party was very successfull, Black Star Foundation and Club Bazart decided to stop with this concept.
